We were excited to get to go to the circus! Generally we have a rule to never run for the metro as the next one is never more then 3 minutes away. For some reason tonight we ran and there was a push and a little shove and bit of confusion with Clara a bit behind etc etc... as the door closed I heard Mary say... "but mom my shoe, I lost my shoe"... and I looked down at her feet and sure enough one was bare. I had seen the platform as Clara boarded last and didn't remember a shoe, so assumed it was beneath the train. Oh what to do! We could try to go back but would it be worth it? We decided to go on to the circus and do a little "perihod" (walkways near the metro and under the sidewalks with kiosks selling everything from magazines to pantyhose) shopping for a cheap pair of shoes. We came out under a mall and although they weren't cheap like we had hoped, we quickly found a pair of shoes and were on our way to the enjoy the circus.

The "Big Top" for the New Circus in Moscow. Joey remembers going to the circus when he lived as a little boy in Moscow. I think our favorite part was the acrobatics which were Cirque Du Soleil like.
There were plenty of animals as well - bears, dogs, monkeys and lions.
and of course clowns!!!
Mary caught this one's eye and he blew her kisses at the end of the show.

As we backtracked our way home on the metro Mary asked if we could go look at the platform for her shoe. Sure enough there it was down next to the track. We checked with the train babushka and she had a grabber tool... she had Joey hold a little 4 inch caution sign for the train to see, just in case. The shoe was retrieved. It was a fun memory for us all!

That is too funny Nikki! Although the shoe was replaced easily enough, it reminded me of our trip to Philly. My grandmother, nephew Jaycob (who was 10 at the time) and I took the train to someplace across Philedelphia and Jaycob didn't get off fast enough and got left ON the train! My gram & I were standing on the platform and there was Jaycob, hands and face plastered against the door as the train took off. I will never forget his face! lol! I really enjoy reading about your adventures!
Poor Mary, although she got another pair of shoes out of it--a girl can never have too many shoes...I think everyone has a "shoe" episode at some point, as long as you can laugh about it you're doing okay. I took the kids to eat one night while Nico was at a meeting, my mom was going to meet us there. I hurried the kids into the car, but did not realize that Kiefer did not have shoes on until we arrived at the restaurant. I went to a store down the road to buy him some flip flops, but they did not take bank cards. I did not have cash, nor my checkbook with me. I went back to the restaurant and told my mom dinner was cancelled. We ate Wendy's that night :(
Boo Hoo!
Sister's lost her shoe
Her highness hopped

Not knowing what to do.
